Hi, I’m Jennifer — the heart behind Sage + Seed.

I’m a mom to two incredible humans and (at this moment) nine beloved furbabies — though that number shifts weekly thanks to our rotating crew of foster animals. We currently have seven fosters in the mix, so life is full and noisy in the very best ways.

Though I live in the U.S. now, I’ve lived and grown in many places: the UK, France, Germany, and spent long stretches in India. My worldview is shaped by travel, community, and the quiet power of growing things — no matter the country, climate, or container.

My Path to Plant Medicine

For most of my life, I’ve dealt with allergies, migraines, and the kind of chronic symptoms that tend to be brushed off as “normal.” But in 2018, everything changed. I lost my younger brother unexpectedly, and his autopsy revealed a genetic condition that sparked testing across our family. That testing led to answers I never saw coming: my children and I all have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) — later joined by POTS and MCAS diagnoses.

Our long, winding journey through misdiagnoses, misinformation, and exhausting doctor visits led me to a quiet realization: I needed to become my own healer — not instead of medicine, but alongside it.

I believe in science. I believe in doctors. I do not believe that our healthcare systems prioritize rare and complex conditions like EDS, POTS, or MCAS — especially for women and children. So I turned inward and downward: toward soil, roots, seeds, and sunshine.

Growing Knowledge, Growing Wellness

What started as a windowsill Kratky herb setup became a rooftop garden in London… which became a five-acre woodland… which evolved into the backyard and 1/3-acre suburban plot I now lovingly transform one square foot at a time.

I grow at least half of our herbs and vegetables using hydroponic systems — from deep water culture (DWC) totes for carrots and root crops, to vertical towers and nutrient-balanced reservoirs. I’ve learned to manage pH, fertilization, lighting, and pests — and from there, moved into the world of medicinal plants.

Each year I trial new varieties, document their growth, and dive deep into researching how to preserve, process, and use them. My shelves are lined with library books, notes, recipes, and now, capsules, teas, tinctures, smoothies, and salves that we use as part of our daily health routines.

I’m not selling these — not now, and maybe not ever. Why? Because I want YOU to be in charge of what goes into your body. That means sourcing your own ingredients. Growing what you can. Learning the process. Building your own toolkit of safe, intentional wellness solutions.

What I’m Building

I’m slowly and lovingly building a repository of plant wisdom, including:

This is a long-haul journey. I’m designing my garden as a 5–10 year transformation project — and I expect my learning path to be just as expansive.
