If you’ve made our Balanced Greens Powder Blend, you already have a versatile, nutrient-packed seasoning at your fingertips.
Now, let’s give it a twist — a bright, citrusy twist that turns it into a flavor booster for seafood, chicken, roasted vegetables, soups, and even salad dressings.
By adding your homemade Citrus Blend Powder (a mix of lemon, lime, and orange zest powders), you get the earthy nutrition of greens with the fresh pop of citrus.
Why Add Citrus to Greens Powder?
- Brightens flavor — citrus cuts through earthy or bitter notes.
- Adds versatility — works for savory dishes and some sweet ones.
- Boosts nutrients — citrus zest contains antioxidants, vitamin C, and aromatic oils.
- Extends the “garden fresh” vibe into the colder months.
Greens Powder with Citrus Lift Recipe
You’ll need:
- ½ cup Balanced Greens Powder Blend (see recipe in previous post)
- 2 tbsp Citrus Blend Powder (lemon, lime, and orange zest powders)
- Optional: 1 tsp garlic powder or onion powder for savory depth
- Optional: pinch of citric acid for extra tang
Step 1 — Make Sure Powders Are Dry
Both your greens powder and citrus powder must be completely crisp-dry before mixing.
If they’ve been in storage for a while, re-dry briefly to remove any absorbed moisture.
Step 2 — Blend Gently
- Combine greens powder and citrus powder in a bowl.
- Stir gently to fully incorporate, but don’t overmix — you want to keep the powders light and fluffy.
Step 3 — Store Properly
- Airtight glass jar, away from light and heat.
- Freeze-dried version: up to 12 months; dehydrated version: best within 6–8 months.
How to Use Greens Powder with Citrus Lift
- Sprinkle over roasted vegetables (especially asparagus, broccoli, or carrots).
- Add to seafood before baking or grilling.
- Stir into salad dressings for instant brightness.
- Mix into couscous, quinoa, or rice.
- Whisk into olive oil as a bread dip seasoning.
Pro tip: This blend also makes an excellent finishing seasoning salt — just mix 2 parts citrus greens powder with 1 part flaky sea salt for a farmers market–worthy jar.
